This weekennd looks to be a great one for football fans. Chicago faces off against old rival Green Bay. I am very happy to see tThe Patriots eliminated from the picture. These guys are the football equivalent of the Yankees with Belicheck acting as Steinbrenner. Anytime New England loses is a good weekend for me.
For my money, when I want to keep track of what is going on in the NFL playoffs, I turn to none other than Gregg Easterbrook. For those of you who don’t know, he calls himself the Tuesday Morning Quarterback. What I love about reading his column is that I don’t have to know which player he is talking about, I just have to know what teams played and his simple analysistakes care of the rest.
I’ll be honest, I only watch football to see what the Chicago Bears are doing this week. Since they won the division a few weeks ago, I haven’t had a need or desire to follow the rest of the league. It doesn’t affect me what other teams do. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the first round of the playoffs are set for this Saturday. I checked to see if hte Bears are playing, but since they aren’t, I’ll wait until Monday to see who they’re playing.
The only thing I ever wanted from this years baseball playoffs was two things. I wanted to see Minnesota make it to the Series so they could lose to the Giants. My dad has been yapping about them all summer. The Giants deserve a championship now that Bonds has left the team. Well, I’ve only been granted half of my wish. Minnesota dropped three to Yankees, but the Giants did manage make it past Atlanta.
