I recently ordered a new wireless mouse and keyboard for work off Amazon. I spent hours going through the hundreds of offers available and picked out just the one I wanted. I’ll be honest I was swayed by the one that came with Super Saver Shipping because who really wants to pay for shipping? So I order with Amazon “One-click”, which is always dangerous, and bam it was on its way.

Only problem was my “One-click” settings do not add the Super Saver Shipping automatically so I stuck paying about ten bucks to ship the package out to me. I tried to cancel the next morning (literally 9 hours late) and the order had already been processed and moved to shipping and Amazon informed me via e-mail that cancelation was not possible. Usually I am very pleased with this kind of speed but now I was put in a tough spot. So I said screw it and eat the ten dollar fee…

However when I got the package it was not really what I was looking for (despite all the research you just never know) and I decided I wanted to return it. I followed all the easy steps out of my order window and printed out the UPS return label in a matter of minutes, which again was speedy and convenient, but it also informed me that ten bucks might be taken out of my return to ship it back.

Now I didn’t think this was fair, although I  was the one who didn’t go through the motions correctly and didn’t want the product anyways, I still felt I deserved my full refund.

So I called up the Amazon costumer service line and got on the phone with some chick most likely on the other side of the country and explained the story just as I did above stating I thought I deserved a full refund. To which she replied:

“We’ll yeah, that is our policy, sir.”

Amazon is great.

I think skateboarding should but a Summer Olympics event but they just don’t want to give Shaun White anymore medals… I mean, he does already have his own Target line brand, that should be enough.

But really, it amazes me after all these years that skateboard is still not an Olympic event. Snowboarding has been one for years and it’s basically the same thing. Even skateboardings two wheeled twin, BMX, made the cut.

Heres my list of five sports I think don’t deserve the event spot over skateboard and why:

(ATTENTION this views are completely my own and by no means are I saying that these sports do not have merit, I am no judge of that seeing that I could never be in any Olympic event… ever.)

1. Archery / Shooting – Same thing basically and I mean come on, where’s the physical strain in this? These are not sports their skills. Next!

2. Water Polo – I don’t even know what that is…

3. Gymnastics Rhythmic – It’s called dancing, check out a London night club, I’m sure it’s cooler.

4. Trampoline – Jumping up and down on a trampoline and doing cool flips should be left for back yard fun. No one needs a medal for this.

5. Table Tennis – Last but not least… don’t get me wrong I love ping pong, and Forest Gump but lets face it, we’re never going to beat Japan.

There you have it my ‘5 Sports That Shouldn’t Be Olympic Events Over Skating Boarding’

Thanks for playing…

I am so excited to be living in the Twin Cities this year. Mankato has been my happy home for awhile but the night life just isn’t the same. Although I know have a job that requires me to be up at the crack of dawn I still want to find a way to take advantage of the cityscape around me. So I set out to find some cheaper things to do in the cities to keep me out of trouble after work.

Sporting events are always a great call but Vikings and Wild tickets are much too expensive and I’m not much for baseball. A couple of my high school friends have gotten season tickets to the wolves the last couple seasons and signed on to a great day that comes out to by roughly two bucks a seat. I talked to them to see what kind of deal I could get on the seat next to them and sounds like I’m going to be an addition to their Wolves family.

I can’t wait to see Rubio and Love play all winter!

Last night I found out Circa Survive will be making their way back to the Cabooze in Minneapolis for their fall headlining tour. Actually I was told they were coming this Friday by my friend Laina, who turned my on to Circa Survive in the first place, thus my trust in her word. However, I was quite disappointed to find out the show isn’t until after my birthday in October. Oh well, something to look forward to.

Another thing I found out, Circa is releasing a new record next month!

I just finished pre-ordering it off their website. The record is called “Violent Waves” and I got the first single ‘Suitcase’ for free with the purchase (although I think they’re giving it out for free anyways). I’m a cheap ass and bought the digital version for five bucks but the CD is only $10. I guess they dropped the label thing and put the whole record together themselves, which means less money out of your pocket and more money in theirs: brilliant!

I also had to throw in this rad t-shirt with the cover of the new album on it.

Growing up the American Pie series were the cult classic coming of age tales for our generation. I bet I’d be hard pressed to find one person who doesn’t know of Jason Biggs pie fucking scene; that clip will live on forever just like his character’s, Jim’s, internet pre-mee sensation. The second movie will always be my favorite but the first one is still a classic. I also enjoyed American Wedding but the branch of movies were never as good.

Now the original cast is back, and I mean everyone. I rented American Reunion on Apple’s iTunes store for $5 which beats the $7.50 I have to pay in the theater nowadays, you bring a date and you’re not leaving without spending thirty dollars at the movies. Anyways the movie was hilarious, definitely on par with the first three. If you’re a big fan of the series or at least the first three I recommend it with a thumbs up.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s five point win last night over San Antonio capped off a three-game winning streak giving OKC the series lead at 3-2 and made this basketball fan hopeful for some game 7 action. After the the Spurs 20 game win streak to start the playoff I thought OKC had no chance but have been since proven wrong.

Also Boston has surprised me greatly hanging on and tying the series in the last two games at home. I thought for sure Lebron and Wade would make quick work of the old folk Celtics, but Kevin Garnett has proved once again that he is a warrior in this game. Also doesn’t hurt when Rondo is getting a million assists per game.

I look forward to watching game 5 of the Eastern Semis tonight on ESPN and hope Boston can stick one out on the road!

I’m all about the underdogs so OKC is my team, but I’ll cheer for any team if it means game 7.

Here we are, Day #9… still dieting, working out and losing weight! Yeah, it surprised me too! More impressive the fact that I haven’t had a pizza or pop in that same amount of time! I’m using the help of SlimMe at the current time, that along with watching my calorie intake. That has been rather difficult, noticing all my favorite foods and how terrible they really were for me. Oh, by the way… I’m done 12 lbs.

Moving on, last night I was watching television before heading to sleep and I got pulled into one of my favorite shows. I haven’t seen it in awhile, but I was completely hooked in during the first season. “Justified”,  love that show. FX never disappoints, because how many times have you been glued to “Always Sunny in Philadelphia”? By the way, have you seen the ads for the new show coming soon to FX, “Anger Management”, starring Charlie Sheen!

Alright, I better go and enjoy some breakfast, I’m already wishing for pancakes, eggs and bacon.

Last week, Friday I attended a concert headlining Gavin DeGraw! I have been a fan of music including the latest hit Not Over You, but I have never attended one of his shows. Wow! Was I in for a surprise, he rocked the place! He played the songs everyone knew, plus some I haven’t heard before. Gavin had a lot more guitar power sound than I thought he would. It was an amazing show. After his concert I went a to a local bar where they had a Tom Petty Tribute on stage, I’m pretty sure everyone was either drunk or under the influence of something – but it was a decent show as well. In all honestly, who can resist singing along to Free Fallin!

Going to live shows / concerts are probably one of my top 5 favorite things to do. Going out to just enjoy the music, watch the crowd, interact with people and dance a few times on the dance floor is just simple fun. It could be a large concert venue, medium like at Lund Arena on the Gustavus Adolphus Campus like weekend or even a smaller venue at a bar, it’s always an adventure!

Hello! This past weekend I decided to lay low, Friday night I was out for some concerts (I’ll talk about them tomorrow). As for Saturday and Sunday, I stayed home watched a few movies on TV and just enjoyed not having to do anything. You want to know what was on TV? It seemed like an ’80s weekend! I watched Rocky 2, 3 and 4. Summer School starring a non-gray haired Mark Harmon was on, plus Forgetting Sarah Marshall! That is always such a great movie to watch, plus Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis! Two beautiful women that I don’t think we see in enough movies! You think Kristen Bell would go out with me? She is from the Midwest via Michigan way. I actually was wondering what other movies she was in, I had to check it out on IMDB. Turns out she does a lot of  voice over work for cartoons and other shows, plus of course the acting!

Anyway that was my weekend, we had few thunderstorms pass through which was relaxing and a sign of spring. As I mentioned yesterday in my blog, I’m still continuing on my diet. You know what, they should make a movie based on my diet, know what we would call it… The Hunger Games!

I felt a little sad hearing that heavy D had passed away yesterday. I grew up listening to his music and he was one of those people who you never think would die so soon. Death is such a touchy subject with me. Some part of me doesn’t like to deal with family members dying or having to say goodbye to those family members.

I hated going to the wake and to the church when my grandmother passed away. I didn’t want my last memory of her to be of her in a coffin. I stayed far back in the church and I tried to hold my tears in as much as I could. I wanted to be strong for the family but really I was just as heart broken as they were. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t remember my grandmother and her strong belief in me. She always told me I could be whoever I wanted to be and that is just what I am doing now.
