Car Stuff

I recently ordered a new wireless mouse and keyboard for work off Amazon. I spent hours going through the hundreds of offers available and picked out just the one I wanted. I’ll be honest I was swayed by the one that came with Super Saver Shipping because who really wants to pay for shipping? So I order with Amazon “One-click”, which is always dangerous, and bam it was on its way.

Only problem was my “One-click” settings do not add the Super Saver Shipping automatically so I stuck paying about ten bucks to ship the package out to me. I tried to cancel the next morning (literally 9 hours late) and the order had already been processed and moved to shipping and Amazon informed me via e-mail that cancelation was not possible. Usually I am very pleased with this kind of speed but now I was put in a tough spot. So I said screw it and eat the ten dollar fee…

However when I got the package it was not really what I was looking for (despite all the research you just never know) and I decided I wanted to return it. I followed all the easy steps out of my order window and printed out the UPS return label in a matter of minutes, which again was speedy and convenient, but it also informed me that ten bucks might be taken out of my return to ship it back.

Now I didn’t think this was fair, although I  was the one who didn’t go through the motions correctly and didn’t want the product anyways, I still felt I deserved my full refund.

So I called up the Amazon costumer service line and got on the phone with some chick most likely on the other side of the country and explained the story just as I did above stating I thought I deserved a full refund. To which she replied:

“We’ll yeah, that is our policy, sir.”

Amazon is great.

A few months before school got out for summer someone super nice broke into my car, took my iPod, popped the truck and swiped my subs. Somehow I had left my car open and I guess I had it coming bumping around the neighborhood. It’s always the worst feeling after something nice gets stolen from you and you can’t do anything about it. So for a while now I’ve been jamming in the car bass-less, until now!

Last week I picked up a new Polk Audio subwoofer from Best Buy. I was real impatient but I managed to shop around all the local pawn shops in Saint Paul, every place I went had the same two 10 inch Kickers, a lot like the two 12s I used to have but we can’t go backwards now, and finally I ended up back at Best Buy where I started. I had my buddy Jon who works at Best Buy purchase them for me with his store discount and saved a ton of money. Best Buy always has real good car audio deals for employees. So thanks to Jon and Best Buy for hooking my car up with some extra bass!

Today was another one of your average Sundays; you sleep in, get a good breakfast, lounge around the house and think about all the extras you could be doing. Well somewhere along the line I got the wild hair to go to Menards and price out some things for the yard. As I walked around Menards I realized every time I step foot into that store I feel guilty! Everyone else is on a mission and focused on whatever project they have planned in front of them. Meanwhile, I’m just wandering the store making wishes on what I would love to do. I feel like I need to be going into that store with a big remodeling project in mind, perhaps a Spring Home Improvement Project.

Well I left the store after I couldn’t decide what I wanted to exactly do or buy, so that didn’t help my guilty feeling. Maybe next week I will have a better game plan set and be ready to accomplish something other than holding down the couch.

Wow, it has been a beautiful day! Could March 6 be the start of Spring? I think so. It has been a great day, so much so I totally forgot about blogging until just now. Steaks and burgers were on the grill and the roommate made some potatoes and beans! Today, I made my way home from work and made the stop at Hy-Vee to pick up all the proper items. It was a debate between which meat to have, so I decided on both!

Grilling is one of my Top 5 favorite things in the spring and summer months, there is something special about it. The food is always great, but actually, better than that is the friends that gather around as it cooks. We always talk about each others day, a crazy story from the weekend, no matter what it is, that’s the best part. Well that and munching on chips and peanuts.

It really was a great day, even before the grilling tonight. Nothing makes me feel better than driving in a freshly cleaned truck on sun filled day, put a good song on the radio and we’re set! I might have took time out of work to wash my truck, don’t judge.

Happy Grilling!

I spent my whole day in the auto repair shop. I have seriously put over 2000 dollars in repairs for my car in a three month span. It sucks that in this economy I can’t afford to buy a new car. Granted that I have had the car for 5 years but I was hoping the car would have lasted longer than it has.

Everyone tells me that I shouldn’t have bought a Ford but at the time I got a good deal on it so that is what I ended up with. If I have a choice I plan to buy a Toyota or a honda. I will no longer deal with all the issues this freaking car has had.

What is going on with the gas prices? I’m going to date myself, but when I was in college, I went to a school that was fairly remote and gas prices were under $1. I could fill up my Crown Victoria tank for 10 bucks. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and there the price was $1.50. Once I left college and got a job, I remember there was a huge outcry when gas crept over $2. Once we got used to that, then it started climbing. $2.50, $3 and now almost $3.50 where I live. I still live in a fairly rural area, so I know that there is some fluctuation due to location, but it makes me wonder why we spent so much time complaining about the $2 price tag.

I have a question for everyone. I went on a road trip this past weekend and had to gas up. Here’s my question: Why do stations put on the pump a pay inside button when you have to pre-pay anyway? There’s no logical reason to have that button if you have to go in and pay for your gas before you pump it.

Car Day

Today Dave is going to put the rear end on my Mustang! I am so glad I have Dave – he is not only an excelent car guy, he is my neighbor so I don’t have to go far!

I’d love to get down and dirty and help him but I don’t think my back could take it. I can’t wait to get to the doctor – come on January 26th!

royla purpleI decided to change the oil in my cars today. Since I’m a bit of a car guy I hate spending money to let someone else change my oil. I decided to check out Royal Purple since they are so highly regarded in the automotive industry. Two Royal Purple oil filters and two cases of oil, $225.00! Yes Seriously! I’ll get 6 oil changes out of the oil but still…ouch!
